Product Description:

The Boop Light Detector is an iOS mobile app developed for blind and visually impaired users to detect levels of light and interpret this information with sound. It can detect whether lights are on or off and cover a broad range of light levels which span from sensing daylight through open windows to checking whether the indicator light is on for a WiFi router. To use, the blind or low vision user would point the phone towards a light source, listen, and feel as their phone changes tone and frequency of vibration while getting closer to the light.

Main Features:

  • Only the light level at the center of the camera (directly perpendicular to the phone face) is measured.
  • Pointing the phone directly at the light source will get the highest reading.
  • Other features include:
    • Volume control: Volume control buttons on side of phone control Boop's playback volume.
    • Mute will completely turn off the sound.
    • Toggle vibrate on or off manually with the switch at the bottom of the app.
    • Voice over features: Two finger scrub to turn vibrate on or off. Two finger double tap to close the app. Tap center of the app to read light level.

Primary Specifications:

  • Requires iOS 8.0 or later.
  • Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
