Product Description:

GazeTalk is a predictive text-entry system with speech output for severely disabled people that has a restricted on-screen keyboard with an ambiguous layout. The main reason for using such a keyboard layout is that it enables the use of an eye tracker with a low spatial resolution (e.g., a web-camera based eye-tracker).

Main Features:

  • type-to-talk.
  • writing.
  • email.
  • web browser.
  • Multimedia player.
  • PDF reader.
  • letter and word prediction, and word completion.
  • speech output.
  • can be operated by gaze, head-tracking, mouse, joystick, or any other pointing device.
  • supports step-scanning.
  • supports users with low precision in their movements, or trackers with low accuracy.
  • allows the user to use Dasher inside GazeTalk and to transfer the text written in Dasher back to GazeTalk.

Primary Specifications:

  • GazeTalk does not include any gaze- or head tracking facilities. It may be operated by mouse, joystick, or any other input method that is capable of controlling the pointer function. The design is specifically meant to support the head or eye control.
  • Compatible with Windows 2000 or newer.
  • A synthetic voice can be installed (SAPI 4 or SAPI 5).
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0. or newer needs to be downloaded. Important: There is an automatic update function in Adobe Acrobat. The automatic update is not compatible with GazeTalk and it will subsequently hold GazeTalk. To avoid this, either disable the automatic update or update Adobe Acrobat and restart GazeTalk.
  • Compatible with Microsoft Multimedia Player 9.0. The playback of mp3 music files, mpg and wmf video files are supported.
