Universal Reader Plus is a voice output and optical character recognition (OCR) program designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision or learning disabilities.

Main Features: 

  • The program reads email, Microsoft Word documents, and web pages aloud with or without a view window that shows the text being read, highlighting each word as it is spoken.
  • The user can change the font, font size, and foreground and background color in the view window.
  • Documents are read-only when the user selects them.
  • The program can automatically summarize the content of Internet pages, email, and other documents.
  • The user can select large or small icons on the program's floating toolbar.
  • Scanning feature can create an electronic version of a document that can be read to the user.
  • OCR feature can scan documents in full color and retain pictures, columns, and tables from the original document.
  • Can translate text dynamically.
  • The Language Model Information Summarization (LMIS) feature lets users quickly summarize the information in a document.
