ALFa READER 3 is a USB stick software that has text to speech for user's selected word(s) and voice recognition for control of writing, and which also allows the user to read along, all in response to the needs of users with dyslexia or reading difficulties.

Main Features: 

  • A VOICE PLAYER that:
    • helps read texts directly in PDF, Word, Writer and Internet Explorer with the aid of a synthesizer voice that works in karaoke style.
    • reads original files directly, maintaining the original page format and with no need to paste and copy.
    • allows users to stop, slow down, go back or move on to other parts of the page, with immediate visual feedback.
    • allows simultaneous use of both voice control and spellchecker.
  • AN EXCLUSIVE PDF ENVIRONMENT that allows:
    • highlight, underline, bar texts.
    • intervene on the graphical elements of the file or insert new ones.
    • enter notes and other comments in text or audio format.
    • insert links to the Internet or to other parts of the same document.
    • insert attachments.
    • import texts and save them in new documents compatible with all major PDF readers.
    • export the whole PDF file or just a selection in txt or in hyperMaps (if Erickson hyperMaps is installed).
    • create customized indexes.
  • A WORK TOOL THAT CAN BE CUSTOMIZED that allows:
    • change the position, size, colors, and graphics of the command bar;
    • activate and customize the synchronous highlighting of the text read (different colors for word and sentence read);
    • enlarge the command bar up to three times its original size to respond to the needs of partially sighted users;
    • enable the Echo function in writing for a single word (the synthesis reads single word right after it is written), for sentence (synthesis reads the entire sentence) or for a single letter (the synthesis reads individually letter by letter once it is typed);
    • choose among 3 preinstalled voices (1 Italian female, 1 Italian male, 1 English). Three more voices are available and can be purchased to extend the program: the French, the Spanish and the German voices.
