Draft:Builder is a software program that helps users brainstorm and plan their writing assignments, better organizing their ideas. The program breaks down the writing process into three manageable steps: outlining, note-taking and then writing the first draft. Draft:Builder is particularly useful to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Asperger’s who have trouble with organization.

- Talking Spell Checker: Text-to-speech reads the word choices, helping students choose the right word.
- Draft:Builder 6 functions identically on Mac and Windows, and is now optimized for the latest operating systems.
- New Speech Engine.
- Draft:Builder 6 features the Acapella voices—meant to be high-quality, natural-sounding voices. Draft:Builder 6 will also play any other SAPI 5 voice.
- The bibliographer helps students create their own bibliography using various source types including electronic/webpage, articles, books, etc. Formats include both APA and MLA.
- The dictionary displays and speaks the definition of almost any word. Dictionary definitions are for 3-12th-grade students.
- Locked Text Instruction: Teachers may add locked text to a Draft:Builder assignment to give directions and extra help to students as they form their first draft.
- Draft:Builder 6 can train teachers with the Train-in-30 Tutorial.
