For some people, gripping and moving the mouse precisely can be very difficult or impossible. If a person is able to use a keyboard effectively, they may find that moving the mouse pointer via the keyboard is easier. Some operating systems have included a feature called Mouse Keys, which uses the numeric keypad to move the mouse pointer, with 5 key on the keypad acting as a primary mouse click, and the remaining numbers serving to move the mouse pointer.

To activate Mouse Keys in Linux:

Select System Settings > Universal Access.  Select the "Pointing and Clicking" tab. Turn on Mouse Keys. No additional controls are available

To activate Mouse Keys in macOS:

Select System Preferences> Accessibility. From the list on the left, select Mouse & Trackpad. Check the box to Enable Mouse Keys. The "Options..." button provides controls for how the pointer moves when using Mouse Keys.

To activate Mouse Keys in Windows 10:

Select Settings> Ease of Use. Select Mouse from the list on the left. Slide the toggle to turn on Mouse Keys. This activates two further controls: use the Control and Shift keys to change the mouse use Mouse Keys when Num Lock is on.
