Product Description: 

A low cost, pen-sized audio labeler for the blind and visually impaired that enables people to label anything with audio labels in their own voice. Users also can playback the recordings anywhere by using the PenFriend and no computer is required.

PenFriend 2

Record and re-record information using this pocket-sized, easy-to-use labeling system; can store and play MP3 files.

PenFriend 3

All the same features as the PenFriend 2, with the addition of a new function that enables users to listen to Talking Books.

These features are common to all versions:

  • Upgraded design with four yellow tactile operating buttons that contrast against a black casing.
  • And on/off function for recording prevents users from having to hold the record button when recording.
  • Works on clothing.
  • File management software:
    • Backup and manage recordings using File Explorer or the free Label Manager software which can be downloaded from penfriendlabeller.com/penfriend-manager (on a Windows-based computer).
    • Use the Graphics Interface or File Explorer for loading music and Talking Books.  
  • The PenFriend Includes:
    • 127 mixed-size labels in orange and yellow; small round, large round, large square.
    • 10 magnetic labels.
    • Neck lanyard.
    • One keyfob; with four recording-spots.

Primary Specifications: 

  • 8GB internal memory that stores up to 250 hours of recordings.
  • Memory is expandable by SD card up to 16GB.
  • 2 AAA batteries.
  • Measures 25mm by about 20mm at its widest point and is 150mm long, the tip is about 10mm in diameter.

  • Different languages for the instruction card and spoken menus (French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish).

Accessories are available for purchase for this product. These include, but are not limited to:

  • RNIB PenFriend white labels.

  • RNIB PenFriend laundry labels.
  • Extra-label packs in sequence to ensure there are no duplicate labels; they are individually numbered. With two identical numbers, both labels will read out the newest recording attached to that number.
