The SwitchIt! software series was designed to help users develop and demonstrate an understanding of cause-and-effect, language concepts, and their ability to use switch controls. The software is highly configurable and can be customized to various levels of complexity. Additionally, the software was inclusively designed with a word-based as well as picture-based menu, and users can control it via one or two switches, a touchscreen, a mouse, an Intellikeys Keyboard, or a Concept Keyboard.

SwitchIt! Wildlife Extra

Switch users can explore the African savannah, see crocodiles in an Australian swamp or go diving with sharks. Many different animals are covered, including mammals, birds, insects, reptiles and fish. Discuss issues of habitat, endangerment and animal protection.

SwitchIt! Hygiene Extra

A range of switching activities including picture builds, stories and flashcards, this time on the theme of personal hygiene. The areas covered include: showering, cleaning teeth, hair care, clean clothes, food hygiene and being well dressed.

Main Features: 

  • The SwitchIt! series can be used in 3 different ways:
    • Event Sequences: 12 little animations each based upon a simple theme such as lunchtime assistant. Each sequence has 5 steps, carefully chosen to maximize speaking and listening.
    • Picture Building: build pictures and see them animate, or use the one-step option for basic cause and effect.
    • Flash Cards: flip through a selection of large pictures that relate to the theme.
  • Alternative picture-based menu.
  • Configurable:
    • Choose how many steps it will take for each scene to be completed.
    • You set the length of reward after each switch press.
    • Picture menu allows children to choose scenes for themselves.
  • In order to facilitate ease of use in an inclusive environment, SwitchIt! People Extra can be configured for those who use:
    • one or two switches.
    • a touchscreen or mouse.
    • an IntelliKeys keyboard.
    • a Concept Keyboard.
  • Settings, or Preferences, can be saved and loaded at any time for use by a particular user.
  • Suitable for all ages.
  • Additionally, the software includes these additional resources:
    • Visual worksheets with over 12 different types of activities. 
    • Braille worksheets.
