Device Displays

On low-resolution device displays, content may be "fuzzy."  On high-resolution displays, it may be tiny.  Some users of information devices cannot see the visual display and need other alternatives. For people who require alternatives to the standard device output, there are several options.

  • The content of the display can be made larger through "screen magnifiers."  This often requires that the information be arranged differently, and results in less information being available at one time.
  • The visual information can be sent to a tactile display.  Small pins can be driven to show text as Braille, or images as touchable graphics.  Again, only a small part of the information is available at one time.
  • The output can be sent to a projector and displayed on a large screen. This allows it to be shared with a group, or expanded for a person with low vision.
