Print Document Reader
For a person with a print disability, whether because of poor vision or other cause, the printed book must be converted to a form that can be manipulated for accessibility. This can be done for the entire book or document, or on a page-by-page basis, as needed. The methods for this conversion vary:
- An imaging scanner can be moved over the page to take an image. Often this requires the document to be placed flat on a glass below which the imager moves.
- Document cameras can be held above the document, taking an image of the entire page at once. The more advanced systems can remove the curves on the page produced by bindings.
- Hand-held video magnifiers/readers can be placed above the text to be read, and used anywhere.
