Access Electronic Documents

One of the primary advantages of electronic representations of text is that they are easy to transform into a form the individual student can access.

  • If the student has the ability to read large print, any electronic document can be magnified.  As a rule, if the student requires more than 6x magnification, other approaches should be considered.
  • Using text-to-speech, electronic documents can be read aloud. The electronic voice need not sound like a person but should be able to read at speeds comparable to a sighted reader.
  • If the student is able to read it, an electronic document can be displayed as "refreshable Braille" on demand.
