Speech Recognition for input
The ability of an electronic device to respond to spoken language can be applied in a number of ways. In general, speech can be used to:
- Issue commands to the device, to cause it to perform some task (open an application, print a document, send an email) as the user wishes
- Dictate words, phrases, sentences or entire documents which are inserted into a document or other place where one would normally type.
Successful speech recognition depends to a great degree on the microphone used to hear the speech. Some microphones are specifically recommended for speech recognition.
