Use speech, handwriting, or printed documents for input
Some types of input do not depend on letter-by-letter entry.
- Speech recognition allows an individual to simply say what they would like the device to receive.
- Some technologies offer to accept hand-written documents and convert them to electronic documents.
- A more mature technology, formerly known as "optical character recognition" will examine printed documents and convert them to various types of electronic document, including word processing documents and spoken text.
